Google Orange County

Google’s 91,000 sqft, four-floor Orange County office combines the lighthearted spirit rooted in the company’s values with the California culture inherent to the coast. Working with Rapt Studio, MASHstudios was able to actualize the design firm’s vision, creating pieces that would nod to the local ethos and play into the overall design scheme.

For Google’s main cafeteria space, custom booths measuring close to nine feet tall and constructed of natural oak in an array of yellow, blue, orange and red slats encircle tables made of birch and hot rolled steel. Throughout the space, specially made solid oak butcher block tables feature intricate designs of the company’s name, letters, and images of beach life.

The furniture found in the café areas successfully showcase the playful Google spirit while also directly reflecting the California way of life.

New From MASHstudios

Fanatics Inc Office Workstations

When this leading provider of officially licensed sports merchandise moved into their San Franciscan office they sought a new look. Working with Urban Chalet, MASHstudios created a visually interesting environment that not only made the most of the company’s space, but also promoted efficiency.

Dubbed the 120 Workstation after its boomerang-like design, these desks feature birch tops, powder coated loop legs and a combination of tackboard and whiteboard dividers. Matched with our classic benching systems, these configurations give each staff member optimum work space and brainstorming power.

Color also played an intricate role in designing this office with the brand’s signature color pallet working its way into private offices. Steel cover panels finished in blue and red help promote team spirit and tie the office’s design together.

Presidio VC Office: White on White

Sometimes the spaces that speak the loudest are the ones with the softest style. Working with Feldman Architecture, MASHstudios constructed clean, modern workstations to accent the cladding detail found on the walls throughout this Presidio VC firm’s newly renovated office. The strong presence of wood provoked the need for a more subtle and light design for the office’s furniture.

White laminate workstations fitted with opaque, white dividers were crafted specifically for the staff. To fully incorporate a fresh and contemporary look, a white powder coat was applied to the desks’ bases. Power troughs were built in to each desk’s surface with outlets and data ports. Their camouflage design is not only ultra-convenient, but renders them nearly invisible.

Large and small file cabinets, made with the same white powder coat finish, were made to fit neatly below desks. These allow for organization and storage while keeping the spaces footprint to a minimum. Push-to-open hardware was used in order to remove any protruding hardware.

Overall, the workstations’ design succeeds in creating a functional and visually appealing space.

MASHstudios Ranks No. 1978 on the 2014 Inc. 5000

Inc. Magazine Unveils 33rd Annual List of
America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies—the Inc. 5000

MASHstudios Inc. Ranks No. 1978 on the 2014 Inc. 5000
with Three-Year Sales Growth of 206%

NEW YORK, August 20, 2014 — Inc. magazine today ranked MASHstudios NO. 1,978 on its 33rd annual Inc. 500|5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs. Companies such as Yelp, Pandora, Timberland, Dell, Domino’s Pizza, LinkedIn, Zillow, and many other well-known names gained early exposure as members of the Inc. 500|5000.

The 2014 Inc. 5000, unveiled online at and with the top 500 companies featured in the September issue of Inc. (available on newsstands August 20 to November 30), is the most competitive crop in the list’s history. The average company on the list achieved a mind-boggling three-year growth of 516%. The Inc. 5000’ s aggregate revenue is $211 billion, generating 505,000 jobs over the past three years. Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region, and other criteria, can be found at

“What surprises me, even though I know it’s coming, is the sheer variety of the paths our entrepreneurs take to success, thematically reflecting how our economy has evolved,” says Inc. President and Editor-In-Chief Eric Schurenberg. “This year there are far more social media and far fewer computer hardware businesses than there were, say, six years ago. But what doesn’t change is the fearsome creativity unleashed by American entrepreneurship.”

The annual Inc. 5000 event honoring all the companies on the list will be held from October 15 through 17, 2014 in Phoenix. Speakers include some of the greatest entrepreneurs of this and past generations, such as Michael Dell, Martha Stewart, host of the CNBC show “The Profit” Marcus Lemonis, Container Store Founder and CEO Kip Tindell, and Chobani Founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya.

Yell Scream and Shout: Yelp Headquarters

When the online restaurant and business review collective outgrew its smaller San Francisco headquarters, Yelp decided to take things vertical. Their new office situated in a completely remodeled 1920’s Art Deco structure in the Financial District spans 106,000 square feet across twelve different floors. With this change came the need to design spaces that would allow team members to work together easily, despite their lack of proximity.

Lining the entrance to the office’s café is a long row of MASHstudios’ custom panel leg tables made of birch multi-ply and white laminate. Paired with our signature English walnut LAXseries benches, the picnic-like seating is relaxed, comfortable and perfect for the company’s ever expanding staff. Bar and sitting height tables were fitted with locking industrial red polyurethane casters to allow for easy mobility and versatility in the large space. Yelp team members can freely move the tables whenever they find themselves in need of a meeting space. Level to the tables’ surface are built in power troughs hidden beneath steel flipper doors. The exposed wood edges, steel bases and red caster wheels add to the space’s industrial, raw aesthetic.

For the meeting rooms, round conference tables measuring in at five and seven feet in diameter were constructed. Central power runs up the bases with plus and minus shaped data grommets woven over with red bungee cords. Staff members simply move the bungee aside to access power and data, which spring back into place helping keep the space looking organized and clean.
