Project Designer: Keating Khang

The Century Plaza Towers have been a Los Angeles landmark for over three decades. Although the sleek towers have maintained their elegance, a 2008 renovation of the plaza lobbies by Keating Khang Architects renewed the famous towers’ allure. Tasked with the design of the reception desk in both lobbies, MASHstudios created an elegant mirrored pair comprised of brushed stainless steel, black granite and white onyx.

A custom designed and concealed inner frame holds wiring for security monitors and computers, as well as a cooling system, and fluorescent lighting on a gantry, a horizontal hoisting mechanism that allows for the 20-foot lighting track to be pulled out with ease for bulb replacement. The project required extensive engineering. We think this reception desk is one of the best examples of out varied skill sets and ability to deliver a landmark product with a landmark building.
